Cherry Pie

Cherry pie has been a classic American dessert since at least the 19th century, but it actually traces its roots back to Europe; where fruit-filled pies were popular. The phrase “as American as cherry pie” became famous because cherries were one of the few fruits that grew well across many parts of the U.S., making cherry pie a symbol of homegrown comfort food.
